Improving UI and UX for ComfyUI
This project reimagines the ComfyUI interface to create a more intuitive experience for creators. Key improvements include redesigned icons and navigation menus, the addition of a dedicated status bar, and a simplified visual layout designed to reduce clutter and improve overall usability.

Project Duration :
2 weeks

Problem :
Node-based AI generation interfaces like ComfyUI often suffer from visual cognitive overload, steep learning curves, and inconsistent UI patterns. As workflows grow in scale, users struggle with visual clutter, unclear node hierarchies, ambiguous status indicators, and inefficient interaction mechanics, which severely degrade task velocity and overall operational efficiency.
Solution :
I architected a comprehensive UI/UX redesign for ComfyUI that streamlines complex visual programming workflows through systematic interface structure and refined interaction design. The updated interface introduces a cohesive visual language, featuring standardized color coding, adaptive node groups, optimized spacing, and intuitive canvas navigation, reducing cognitive load while giving users granular control over dense generative AI pipelines.
Challenge :
The key challenge was simplifying a highly technical, node-graph ecosystem for power users without limiting its underlying flexibility or technical capabilities. Designing an intuitive spatial logic required balancing modular visual hierarchy with dense data flows, ensuring that custom node relationships, status states, and canvas controls remained clear and readable across both macro-level pipeline architectures and micro-level parameters.
Summary :
The redesign resulted in a more intuitive, user-friendly product with a reusable design system built for scalability, and demonstrated my ability to independently own the full UX lifecycle, including user research, heuristic evaluation, visual design, and usability testing, while producing engineering-ready documentation for handoff.
